U.S. Navy Corsair airplanes fly onto and off the deck of the naval aircraft carrier Saipan during student pilot training in 1946 or 1947 shortly after the end of WWII. The Saipan was later the first Aircraft carrier to be used for jets which were FH-1 Phantom jets becoming the home of the first carrier-based jet squadron. Later the Saipan renamed the Arlington served in the Vietnam War and afterward the Arlington aircraft carrier was used in the Apollo space program to support the recovery of Apollo 11
